Agafay Desert Experience

The Agafay Desert is located about an hour’s drive (40-50 km) southwest of Marrakech, making it an ideal destination for a day trip or an overnight stay.

  • Landscape: Unlike the vast sand dunes of the Sahara, Agafay is known for its rocky, arid, and rolling hills—often described as a lunar or stone desert (“reg”).

  • Vibe: It offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city, with stunning, expansive views of the Atlas Mountains, which are often snow-capped in winter.

  • Activities: The excursion is centered around adventure and cultural immersion.

  • Camps: The area is home to numerous luxury desert camps and eco-lodges, many of which offer the activities, meals, and overnight glamping experiences.

Payment: directly to the driver on the day of the tour.

Footwear: Bring closed, sturdy shoes.

Clothing: Essential to bring warm layers for the evening.

Minimum Booking: Requires a minimum of 2 people to run.

Optional Activities: Quad biking/Buggy rides are often not included in the base price.

PROGRAM OF THE DAY :

  • Midday/Early Afternoon: Pick-up and Departure from your accommodation in Marrakech.

  • 45 Min – 1 Hour Drive: Scenic drive through the countryside to the Agafay Stone Desert.

  • Arrival & Welcome: Arrive at the desert base/camp and receive a traditional Moroccan Mint Tea welcome.

  • Afternoon Activity: Enjoy a guided Quad Biking, Buggy Ride, or Camel Trek across the rocky terrain.

  • Sunset: Position yourself for a memorable Sunset Viewing over the rolling hills with the Atlas Mountains in the background.

  • Evening: Enjoy a multi-course, traditional Moroccan Dinner at the camp.

  • Entertainment: Experience local Live Music, Drumming, and Fire Show (depending on the package).

  • Late Evening: Departure from the desert camp and transfer back to Marrakech.

  • Night: Arrival and drop-off back at your accommodation.
